Q. How can I view/download the audition video and music?
You have to sign up for the competition FIRST before you can view or download the audition video and music.
Q. How do I sign up for a BDE competition?
1. Click on Join Now. This brings you to a page for our subscriptions.
2. Choose buy now to purchase the 10 day subscription.
3. Enter the user details you wish to use. Enter your name, choose a username, password, enter your email address, and click Register.
4. Confirm your details, and click Checkout.
5. This takes you to a PayPal invoice, you can log into PayPal if you have one, or pay with a credit card by selecting the "Don't have a PayPal Account option".
6. Once you pay the fee you will be redirected back to our site to fill out a online application. If you don't get redirected you also receive an email with a link to fill out the online registration form.
7. At this point you should have access to log into the site right away, however it sometimes can take up to 48hrs to process payments. Note, once you pay the fee you will have 10 days to learn the audition choreography.
8. When you log in, there will be a box that appears on the home page title "Competitor Items" this has all the links you will need to access the Choreography videos, download the music, upload your video and check your subscription information.
9. Film yourself doing it along with your own solo (both need to be on the same video clip), upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo or any other common video upload site.
10. Once it's uploaded to one of those sites, then you can upload it to the BDE website using the Upload Video Link in your competitor items box.
Q. How do I upload my video?
1. Log On to your account on the BDE website.
2. Click on Upload Video (It's in the box on the right of the screen titled "Competitor Items)
3. On the new page, you want to copy and paste your YouTube link (Not the embed code) into the white box right below "Add video link"
4. Once you copy and paste the link click "Get Video (This will fill in the fields below).
5. Change the title to your name (how people will vote on you) In the "Parent Category" field below, you need to select which competition you are competing for
6. In the "Downloadable" field, select "No"
7. In the "Published" field, select "Yes"
8. Click SAVE
You can check to see if you video has been uploaded by clicking on the videos tab and the click on the Competitions tab and select which competition you entered. The video should be there. If you are still having problems uploading your video, please email us your link and we will help you with it.
Q. If I sign up for a competition less then a week before it closes do I still get 10 days to upload my video?
No, you need to have your video uploaded before the closing date of the competition. So if the competition closes on the 4th and you signed up on the 1st then you will only have until the 4th to upload your video.
Q. When will I know if I was selected as a winner?
Each competition usually ends 1 month prior to the first rehearsal so the winners will have time to make any travel arrangements if needed and will have plenty of time to learn the show choreography we send them.
Check the Schedule page for the location you are competing for so see the deadlines.
Q. How do the winners get chosen?
Jillina reviews all the videos for a competition and picks usually 8-12 dancers to be cast in that local show. She looks for dancers that can capture her style of dance and can get the details of her choreography. In their solo dance she looks for something unique they bring to the table.
Q. How is the People's Choice Winner chosen?
Once the general competition closes and all videos are posted for a competition, a "VOTING POLL" will be posted on the website for 1 week with all the competitors names. People vote for their favorite and after the voting ends the dancer with the most votes wins People's Choice.
(Note: We are no longer using the "Star Rating" as the voting system, due to hacking issues.)
Q. Does the "People's Choice Winner" automatically get to be part of the BDE show?
The People's Choice Winner will get to do a drum solo in the Pre-Show, but winning People's Choice does NOT automatically mean they are cast in the main BDE show. We have had both cases where a chosen dancer also won People's Choice and we have also had it where the dancer that won People's Choice was not picked as one of the winners that does the main show. But if you win People's Choice you WILL get to do a solo in the Pre-Show.
Q. Who composed the music for Bellydance Evolution?
Paul Dinletir of Hipalicious Music composed original music for Bellydance Evolution. You can purchase Immortal Desires sound track by clicking the Store tab on our website.
